People vote. In a presidential election, citizens cast votes to choose who they want to lead their country. Each vote counts equally, and the person with the most votes usually wins.

Many countries use it. Over 100 countries around the world hold presidential elections because they have a president as their head of state. Some countries have kings or queens instead, so they don't have presidential elections.

Candidates campaign hard. Before an election, people who want to be president travel around, give speeches, and tell voters why they would be a great leader. This campaigning can last for many months.

Elections happen regularly. Most countries hold presidential elections every few years, like every 4, 5, or 6 years, so voters get a chance to choose new leaders regularly.
