Seven speedy players. Instead of the usual fifteen rugby players, sevens teams have only seven on the field at a time. This means each player has to cover way more ground and keep moving the whole time.

Quick match lengths. Each half lasts only seven minutes instead of the standard forty minutes in regular rugby. This makes the game super fast and intense, with constant action from start to finish.

Popular worldwide. Rugby sevens is played all around the world, especially in Africa, Asia, Europe, the Americas, and the South Pacific. It is one of the most widely played forms of rugby you can find.

Summer tournament season. Most sevens tournaments happen during the summer months at both amateur and club levels. Teams compete all over to show off their speed and skill in this quick version of the game.

Run by World Rugby. The same organization that manages regular rugby union, called World Rugby, also runs all the sevens competitions. This keeps the rules and standards the same everywhere in the world.
