Super tall giant. Saguaros can grow over 40 feet high, making them the tallest cacti in the United States. That is as tall as a four-story building.

Desert home. These amazing cacti only grow naturally in the Sonoran Desert, which spreads across Arizona, Sonora Mexico, and parts of California. They need the hot, dry desert climate to survive.

Arizona's flower. The saguaro's white and yellow blossoms are so special that Arizona chose them as the state wildflower. These beautiful flowers bloom in late spring and early summer.

Super long life. A saguaro can live for over 200 years in the desert. Some of the oldest saguaros alive today were already giants when your great-great-great-grandparents were born.

Protected by law. In 1933, the United States created Saguaro National Park near Tucson to keep these incredible cacti safe. This park has two sections with thousands of saguaros.
