Royal summer home. Schönbrunn Palace was the main summer residence where the Habsburg rulers of Austria spent their warmest months. It's located in Vienna, a major city in Austria, and is one of the most impressive palaces in all of Europe.

Named after a spring. The palace gets its name from a special artesian well in the gardens that brought fresh water up from deep underground. The Habsburg court actually drank water from this well, so they named their palace after it.

Enormous gardens. The palace sits on vast grounds with beautiful manicured gardens, fountains, and pathways that stretch across the landscape. Visitors could stroll through these gardens and enjoy the peaceful, natural surroundings away from busy Vienna.

Luxury and power. The palace showcased the wealth and power of the Habsburg family, one of Europe's most important royal dynasties. Every room was decorated with fancy art, gold details, and expensive furnishings to impress important visitors.

Home to memories. Many important moments in Habsburg history happened at Schönbrunn, and today it's a museum where visitors can walk through the same rooms where emperors and empresses once lived.
