Lives in deserts. The resurrection plant grows wild in the Chihuahuan Desert between the United States and Mexico, where it's super dry and hot.

Survives without water. It can dry out almost completely, losing almost all its moisture, and still stay alive. Most plants would die if this happened to them.

Curls into a ball. When the weather gets dry, the plant's stems curl up tight like a little brown ball. When rain or moisture comes, it uncurls and turns green again.

Comes back to life. Scientists call it a resurrection plant because it can wake up from being almost completely dried out. It's like it's sleeping until water arrives.

Smart stem design. The plant's stems have special cells that control how stiff or flexible they are, which helps them curl and uncurl based on how wet or dry they are.
