Started in 1969. Sesame Street first aired on November 10, 1969, and was made by Joan Ganz Cooney and Lloyd Morrisett to help kids learn important skills like reading and counting.

Features Jim Henson's Muppets. The show is famous for its beloved puppet characters created by Jim Henson, including Big Bird, Elmo, Oscar the Grouch, and Cookie Monster who teach lessons while being silly and fun.

Mix of entertainment styles. Sesame Street combines live-action scenes, animated cartoons, puppet performances, and sketch comedy to keep kids entertained while they learn.

Many homes for one show. The show started on PBS, then moved to HBO, then HBO Max, and most recently began airing on Netflix in 2025, bringing it to audiences in different ways.
