Giant tree acrobat. Siamangs are the biggest gibbons in the world, growing up to 3 feet tall and weighing as much as a small dog. They zoom through the forest canopy using their long arms to swing from branch to branch faster than you can blink.

Lives in Southeast Asia. Siamangs make their homes in the rainforests of Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand, where they spend almost their entire lives in the trees. They rarely come down to the ground, preferring to stay high up in the leafy branches.

Loud morning singers. These gibbons are famous for their incredibly loud calls that echo through the forest at dawn. They make hooting and barking sounds to talk to other siamangs and to mark their territory.

All black fur. Unlike many other gibbons that have lighter colored fur, siamangs are covered in thick black fur from head to toe. This dark coat helps them blend into the shadows of the dense forest.

In serious danger. Siamangs are endangered because their rainforest homes are disappearing due to logging and clearing for farms. Scientists are working hard to protect these amazing acrobats before it's too late.
