Written by Brothers Grimm. Two German brothers named Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm collected and published this story in 1812 as part of their famous collection called Grimms' Fairy Tales. It was story number 53 in their book.

Started in German. The original German title was Sneewittchen, which came from Low German. The modern German spelling is Schneewittchen, but English speakers know it as Snow White.

Many English names. When the story was first published in English in 1823, it was called Snow-Drop. Some early translations also used the title Little Snow-White before Snow White became the most popular name.

Final version in 1857. The Brothers Grimm kept improving their version of the story until 1854, and the version we know best today comes from their 1857 book.
