Cool Facts
Mixing magic happens. A soda fountain combines three simple ingredients: flavored syrup, carbon dioxide gas (which makes the fizz), and chilled water. When you press the button or pull the handle, the machine automatically mixes them together in just the right amounts.
Carbonation adds the bubble. Carbon dioxide is a gas that creates all those tiny bubbles you feel when you drink a soda. The machine pumps this gas into the water under pressure to make the drink fizzy and refreshing.
Found everywhere fun happens. You'll find soda fountains in movie theaters, restaurants, ice cream shops, and convenience stores. Some are big machines you operate with a gun-like handle, while others are completely automatic vending machines.
Syrup comes in bags now. Modern soda fountains use special containers called bag-in-box systems that hold concentrated syrup. These bags are more convenient and take up less space than old glass bottles used to.
Manual or automatic choices. Some soda fountains require an employee or customer to manually push buttons or pull handles, while others are fully automated vending machines that work all on their own.
