Ruled for centuries. The Song dynasty lasted from 960 to 1279, making it one of China's longest and most successful ruling periods. Emperor Taizu founded it by taking over the throne and bringing all of China under one rule.

Golden age of arts. Song dynasty was famous for amazing paintings, poetry, and calligraphy that people still admire today. Artists created beautiful landscape paintings and porcelain that became treasures around the world.

Brilliant inventions. The Song developed gunpowder weapons, improved printing technology, and created advanced ships. They made breakthroughs in math, astronomy, and medicine that helped all of civilization.

Powerful trading empire. Song cities became huge centers of commerce and culture where merchants from far away came to buy and sell goods. The dynasty built incredible buildings and gardens that showed off their wealth and skill.

Battled strong rivals. The Song fought with other kingdoms like the Jin, Western Xia, and Liao for control of northern China. Eventually the Mongols conquered them in 1279, ending the dynasty's rule.
