Built for 1962. The Space Needle was constructed specifically for the Seattle World's Fair, which was a huge celebration of the future that attracted over 2.3 million visitors from around the world.

Seattle's icon. Today, the Space Needle stands as the most recognizable symbol of Seattle and has been officially designated as a city landmark that people visit from all over.

Queen Anne location. You'll find the Space Needle at 400 Broad Street in the Lower Queen Anne neighborhood, sitting right in the middle of Seattle Center where the fair took place.

Observation tower. The main purpose of the Space Needle is to let visitors ride up to the top and get amazing views of Seattle, the surrounding mountains, and water in every direction.

Futuristic design. When it opened, the Space Needle looked incredibly modern and represented people's excitement about the future and new technology in the 1960s.
