Absolutely colossal. The Spring Temple Buddha stands 128 meters tall, which is about as high as a 40-story building. It took 11 years to complete, from 1997 to 2008.

Built on a lotus. The statue sits on a special 20-meter-tall lotus throne, which is a sacred flower in Buddhism. The lotus represents purity and enlightenment.

Located in Foquan Temple. You can find this massive statue at Foquan Temple in Henan Province, China. It's nestled in the beautiful Fodushan Scenic Area near a major highway.

Second in the world. When it was finished, the Spring Temple Buddha was the tallest statue on Earth. In 2018, the Statue of Unity in India became taller, pushing Spring Temple Buddha to second place.

Honors Vairocana Buddha. This statue represents Vairocana Buddha, an important figure in Buddhist religion. Vairocana is believed to be the cosmic Buddha who created all things.
