Cool Facts
Long and thin. Spaghetti is a cylindrical pasta that comes in long strands. It's made by mixing milled wheat and water together, then forming and drying the mixture into those iconic thin noodles.
Made from durum wheat. The traditional Italian version uses a special kind of wheat called durum-wheat semolina. This gives spaghetti its perfect texture for holding onto sauce.
Usually white. Most spaghetti is white because it's made from refined flour that's been stripped of its outer layers. But you can also find spaghetti made with whole wheat flour, which is darker and more nutritious.
Many thicknesses available. Spaghetti comes in different sizes: spaghettoni is thicker, spaghettini is thinner, capellini is very thin like angel hair, and vermicelli is somewhere in between. You can choose the thickness you like best.
