Octopus inside. Takoyaki are filled with minced or diced octopus, along with tempura scraps, pickled ginger, and green onion to add flavor and texture.
Cooked in special pans. These snacks are made in a special molded pan that has round indents, so each ball cooks evenly on all sides to get perfectly crispy outside and creamy inside.
Topped with yummy stuff. After cooking, takoyaki are brushed with takoyaki sauce and mayonnaise, then sprinkled with green seaweed and shavings of dried bonito fish that dance from the heat.
Wheat flour batter. The golden exterior comes from a simple wheat flour based batter that fries up crunchy and delicious in the special pan.
