Controls the flow. A tap is a valve, which is like a gate that opens and closes to control how much water or liquid comes out. When you turn the handle, you're moving a part inside that either blocks the flow or lets it through.

Found everywhere. Taps are in your kitchen sink, bathroom, garden, and even in factories and hospitals. They help us get the exact amount of water we need for washing, drinking, or filling bathtubs.

Simple but clever. The simplest taps have a handle you turn or push to open and close them. Inside, there's usually a screw-like part that moves to block or unblock the hole where the liquid comes through.

Many types exist. Some taps have two handles for hot and cold water, while others have just one knob you turn. Modern taps can be super fancy with sensors that turn on when you put your hands underneath.

Saves resources. Good tap design helps us not waste water, which is important since clean water is precious. Some taps are made to use less water while still working great for washing and cleaning.
