An island by itself. Tasmania is an Australian state that sits 240 kilometres south of mainland Australia, separated by the Bass Strait. It's actually the 26th largest island in the entire world.

Home to unique creatures. Because Tasmania has been isolated from the mainland for thousands of years, it has animals found nowhere else on Earth, like Tasmanian devils and wombats.

City of Hobart. The capital city Hobart is where about 40% of Tasmania's 573,000 people live, making it the heart of the state.

Spread out and wild. Unlike other Australian states, Tasmanian people don't cluster in one big city. The population spreads across the island, with more room for forests and nature.

One thousand islands. Tasmania isn't just the main island. The state includes about 1,000 smaller islands surrounding it, creating a unique island landscape.
