Trains stop here. Train stations are places built along railroad tracks where trains come to pick up passengers and freight. Without stations, trains would just keep rolling without letting anyone on or off.

Buildings with purposes. A train station usually has a platform for people to stand on, tracks for the trains to run on, and a station building. Inside the building you can buy tickets, wait in a comfortable room, and drop off or pick up your luggage.

The passing loop trick. On tracks that only go one direction, stations sometimes have a special loop of extra track. This lets one train pull off to the side so another train coming the opposite way can pass by without crashing.

More than just trains. Stations aren't just for people traveling. Trains also stop at stations to load and unload cargo like boxes, packages, and goods headed to stores and factories.

They're everywhere. You'll find train stations in cities, small towns, and even in the countryside. Busy cities have huge stations with many platforms, while quiet areas might have just a simple shelter and one platform.
