Two totally different styles. The Romantic tutu is soft and bell-shaped and reaches down to your calf or ankle, making dancers look graceful and floaty. The Classical tutu is short and stiff and sticks straight out from the dancer's waist and hips like a flat plate, which lets audiences see all the fancy footwork.

Made from fabulous fabrics. Tutus can be made from tarlatan, muslin, silk, tulle, gauze, or nylon. These light, layered materials help the tutu move beautifully and catch the stage lights as dancers twirl.

Built with a bodice. Most tutus have a special top part called a bodice that's attached to the skirt part. The bodice fits snugly around the dancer's torso so the tutu stays in place during all those spins and jumps.
