Massive European Nation. Ukraine is the second-largest country in Europe, covering an area about the size of France or Spain. It stretches across Eastern Europe and touches six different countries plus two seas.

Capital City Kyiv. Kyiv, the capital, is Ukraine's biggest city and sits on the Dnipr River right in the country's heart. Other major cities like Kharkiv, Odesa, and Dnipro each have their own unique histories and cultures.

Ukrainian Language. The official language spoken across Ukraine is Ukrainian, which uses the Cyrillic alphabet (the same alphabet used in Russian, but they are quite different languages).

Bordered by Many Countries. Ukraine is neighbors with Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Moldova, and Belarus, making it a crossroads between Eastern and Western Europe.

Over 32 Million People. With an estimated population of 32.3 million people, Ukraine is one of Europe's most populated countries, though fewer people live there than in countries like Germany or France.
