Glowing night vision. Walleyes have huge eyes with a special reflective layer that makes them glow in the dark, helping them see and hunt when other fish are sleeping. This is why they're named 'walleyed' - their eyes seem to stare straight ahead.

Master night hunters. Walleyes are most active at dawn, dusk, and nighttime when their amazing eyes give them a huge advantage over other fish. They use their excellent vision to find meals in low light that would be pitch black to humans.

Canadian champions. Walleyes live across most of Canada and the northern United States, thriving in cool, deep lakes and rivers where they're one of the most popular fish for people to catch.

Tasty dinner. Walleyes are famous for being delicious to eat, which is why so many people enjoy fishing for them. They're one of North America's favorite freshwater fish for both sport and food.

European cousins. The walleye has a close relative in Europe called the zander (or pikeperch), showing that similar fish evolved on different continents.
