Glass Frog

Glowing green skin. Glass frogs are bright lime green on top, which helps them blend in perfectly with the leaves and branches where they live high up in trees.

See-through belly. The underside of a glass frog's belly is completely transparent, so you can see right through to its heart, liver, and other organs inside, like looking through a window.

Vanishing act while sleeping. When a glass frog goes to sleep on a leaf, it hides almost all of its blood inside its liver, making it nearly invisible since most of the see-through color comes from the blood moving around.

Tiny insect hunters. Glass frogs are small and spend their whole lives in trees, sneaking around at night to hunt for little insects to eat.

Habitat in trouble. Climate change and the breaking up of rainforests are making life harder for glass frogs, and scientists are worried about their survival.
