Eurasian Magpie

Part of the crow family. Eurasian magpies belong to the corvids, which means they're related to crows, ravens, and jays. This family is known for being some of the smartest birds on the planet.

Bold black and white look. These birds have striking black and white plumage that makes them easy to spot. They're instantly recognizable with their glossy black heads, backs, and wings paired with white bellies and shoulder patches.

Found across the north. Eurasian magpies live throughout the northern parts of Europe and Asia as resident birds, meaning they stay in the same areas year-round rather than migrating.

Clever and curious birds. Magpies are known for their intelligence and playful behavior. They often interact with humans and are curious about shiny objects, though they're not quite as obsessed with them as popular stories suggest.

Not like Australian magpies. Despite having similar names and colors, Eurasian magpies aren't closely related to Australian magpies. The Australian magpie belongs to a completely different bird family called artamids.
