Common Myna

Native to Asia. The common myna comes from Asia and belongs to the starling family. It's also called the Indian myna because it's found across India and surrounding regions.

City champion. Unlike many birds that avoid cities, the common myna absolutely loves urban environments. It has adapted so well to living near humans that it thrives in towns and cities better than in wild forests.

Eats almost anything. The common myna is omnivorous, meaning it eats both plants and animals like insects, fruits, seeds, and small creatures. This flexible diet helps it survive in many different environments.

Fiercely territorial. Common mynas are very protective of their space and will fight other birds to defend their territory. They're loud, aggressive, and bold, which helps them compete for resources in crowded cities.

Invasive worldwide. Because common mynas are so adaptable and successful, humans accidentally introduced them to many parts of the world. They've become invasive in places like Australia, Hawaii, and South Africa, where they sometimes crowd out native birds.
