Fast and Skillful. Wheelchair basketball players use specially designed sports wheelchairs that let them move quickly and make sharp turns on the court. The game follows the same rules as regular basketball, with the same hoops, court size, and scoring.

Worldwide Competition. The International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) runs wheelchair basketball around the globe, just like how FIFA runs soccer. Teams from many countries compete against each other, including in the Paralympic Games where the best athletes in the world face off.

Sports Wheelchairs. The wheelchairs used in wheelchair basketball are not the same as regular mobility wheelchairs. These special sports wheelchairs are lighter, faster, and designed so players can twist, jump, and shoot accurately while sitting down.

Official Recognition. Wheelchair basketball is recognized by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) as the real authority for the sport worldwide. Major sports organizations like FIBA also officially recognize wheelchair basketball as a legitimate competitive sport.

Real Team Sport. Like basketball, wheelchair basketball is a team game where players pass, shoot, and defend together. Players develop amazing ball handling and strategy skills while competing at professional levels.
