Cool Facts
Comes from animals. Wool grows as fuzzy hair on sheep, goats, rabbits, camels, and alpacas. When people shear (cut) this hair off, it can be spun into yarn and woven into cozy clothes and blankets.
Super stretchy and springy. Wool fibers have a special wavy shape that lets them bounce back and hold their form, which is why wool sweaters don't lose their shape like some other fabrics do.
Naturally warm and dry. Wool traps tiny pockets of air that keep heat close to your body, and it can even get wet and still feel warm, making it perfect for cold, rainy places.
Used for thousands of years. People have been making wool clothing and blankets since ancient times, and it's still one of the most popular natural fibers in the world today.
Different types of wool. Some wool comes from fine, soft sheep that make smooth yarn for fancy clothes, while other coarser wool is better for rugs and heavy blankets.
