Mountain superstars. Yaks live high up in the Himalayan mountains, the Tibetan Plateau, and other freezing cold regions across Asia where most other cattle couldn't survive.

Ultra-thick coat. Their long, shaggy hair keeps them warm in extreme cold and wind, making them perfectly designed for their icy mountain homes.

Three-in-one helper. People in these regions depend on yaks for milk, meat, and as pack animals to carry heavy loads up and down steep mountain paths.

Grunting sounds. Yaks make grunting noises, which is why they're sometimes called grunting oxen, and they use these sounds to talk to each other.

Wild ancestors. All the yaks we see today come from wild yaks that lived in Asia thousands of years ago and were tamed by local people.
