Yew Trees

Super old trees. Yew trees can live for thousands of years, making them some of the oldest trees on Earth. Some yews in Europe are believed to be over 4,000 years old.

Poisonous parts. Almost all parts of a yew tree are toxic to humans and animals, except for the red berry-like part called the aril. This is why yew trees were planted in churchyards where people wouldn't accidentally eat them.

Legendary bows. Yew wood was the preferred wood for making powerful bows throughout history, especially the famous English longbows used in medieval times. It's strong, flexible, and perfect for weapons.

Dark and mysterious. Yew trees have dark green needles and can grow very thick and dense, creating mysterious, shadowy spots in forests and gardens. They're often featured in spooky stories and folklore.
