Massive granite cliffs. Yosemite's most famous rock formations, like El Capitan, rise straight up from the valley floor. These incredible cliffs were carved by glaciers over millions of years and attract climbers from all over the world.

Spectacular waterfalls. The park has amazing waterfalls that rush down the mountainsides, especially in spring when snow melts. Some of these waterfalls are among the tallest in North America.

Ancient giant sequoias. Yosemite is home to groves of giant sequoia trees, which are the biggest trees on Earth by volume. Some of these trees have been growing for over 3,000 years.

Glaciers and lakes. The park contains glaciers and beautiful crystal-clear lakes that reflect the surrounding mountains. These icy features were created by glaciers that carved the landscape during ice ages.

Protected wilderness. Almost 95 percent of Yosemite is designated as wilderness, which means it's protected and mostly untouched by development. This makes it one of the largest wild areas in the Sierra Nevada mountains.
