Pointy leaf rosettes. All yucca plants grow leaves in tight circular clusters that taper to sharp points, giving them names like Adam's needle and Spanish-bayonet.

Cream-colored flowers. Yuccas produce tall clusters of thick-petaled flowers that are mostly cream white, and these blooms are super important for the plant's survival.

Dry climate champions. Yuccas are xerophytes, meaning they are specially adapted to survive in dry, harsh environments where most other plants would wilt and die.

Size superstars. Yuccas range from small shrubby plants all the way up to giant tree-like species, with the Joshua tree being one of the most famous examples.

Spread across continents. The yucca genus contains about 50 species and is native to North America, stretching from Panama all the way up to southern Canada.
