Zhangjiajie National Forest Park

Sandstone skyscrapers. Zhangjiajie is famous for its thousands of tall, narrow sandstone columns that jut straight up from the forest floor, some reaching over 3,000 feet high. These pillars were carved by wind and rain over millions of years.

Avatar connection. The floating Hallelujah Mountains in the movie Avatar were inspired by Zhangjiajie's spectacular peaks. The filmmakers used the real landscape as their visual reference when creating that alien world.

Glass viewing platforms. Visitors can walk on glass-bottomed pathways and ride cable cars high above the forest to see the dramatic scenery from incredible heights, giving you a thrilling view straight down to the valleys below.

Protected ecosystem. The national forest park protects rare plants and animals in its 14,000-acre landscape, making it an important nature reserve in central China.

Wulingyuan treasure. Zhangjiajie is the centerpiece of the Wulingyuan Scenic Area, which was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its unique geological formations and natural beauty.
