Cables do the work. Aerial tramways use three cables total: two strong cables hold up the cabin, while a third moving cable pulls it along. The cabin grips onto the moving cable and can't let go while it's running.

Climbs steep places. These cable cars are perfect for mountains and valleys where building regular roads would be too hard or expensive. They can lift people way up high to see amazing views.

Slower than gondolas. Aerial tramways carry fewer people at a time and have longer wait times than gondola lifts, which are another type of cable transport. This makes them better for shorter trips than busy ski resorts.

Fixed grip system. Unlike some cable cars that can disconnect from the cable, an aerial tramway cabin is permanently attached to the moving cable. This makes the system simpler but means the cabin moves at one steady speed.
