Part of Prunus. Almonds are a type of tree that belongs to the same family as peaches and cherries, all called Prunus. This means almond trees are cousins to fruit trees you might know.

Wrinkly shell home. Unlike many other nuts, almonds have a bumpy, corrugated shell (called the endocarp) that protects the seed inside. That wrinkly pattern makes almonds unique compared to their relatives.

Crunchy edible seed. What we eat when we snack on almonds is actually the seed inside that hard shell. Once you crack it open, you get the yummy, crunchy part that's full of protein and healthy fats.

Beautiful spring blooms. Almond trees produce gorgeous pink or white flowers in springtime before the nuts develop. Entire valleys full of almond trees create stunning pink and white landscapes.
