Cool Facts
Tall-nosed dino. Altirhinus had a fancy bump or crest on its nose, which is what its name means in Latin. Scientists think this nose bump might have been colorful and used to show off to other dinosaurs.
Plant-eating machine. This dinosaur had special teeth perfect for grinding leaves and plants, working like a food processor in its mouth. It probably spent most of its day munching on ferns and other greens.
Two-legged runner. Altirhinus walked on powerful hind legs and could probably run away if danger came calling. Its short arms weren't strong enough for walking, but might have helped grab branches or food.
Mongolian dweller. Scientists found Altirhinus fossils in Mongolia, a place that was much greener and wetter back then than it is today. This dinosaur was part of an amazing community of creatures living in Early Cretaceous Asia.
Medium-sized dino. Altirhinus was bigger than a human but smaller than many famous dinosaurs, probably reaching about 25 to 30 feet long from nose to tail tip.
