Super-sized swimmers. Atlantic salmon can grow up to 3 feet long, making them one of the biggest fish in the salmon family. Only two types of salmon grow even larger.
Ocean-to-river travelers. Baby salmon hatch in streams and rivers but then swim out to the ocean to grow big and strong. When they're grown up, they swim all the way back upstream to have babies of their own.
Northern hemisphere fish. You'll find Atlantic salmon in the northern Atlantic Ocean and in all the rivers that empty into it, from Europe to North America.
Amazing life cycle. These fish live part of their lives in fresh water rivers and part in the salty ocean, which is a rare and incredible way to live compared to most other fish.
