Powerful jaw crusher. The Atlantic wolffish has an incredibly strong bite and teeth designed to crush hard shells like sea urchins, clams, and starfish. This deep-sea hunter uses its muscular jaws like a nutcracker to break open its favorite snacks.

North Atlantic home. These unusual fish live in the cold waters of the North Atlantic Ocean, staying in the depths where few other creatures can survive. They've adapted perfectly to the chilly, dark environment where they hunt.

Disappearing fast. The number of Atlantic wolffish has dropped dramatically because of overfishing and getting caught accidentally in fishing nets meant for other fish. Scientists now call them a Species of Concern, meaning we need to protect them.

Many spooky names. People call this fish by lots of creepy nicknames like seawolf, devil fish, and ocean catfish because of its fierce appearance and large teeth. Despite the scary names, it's actually just a shy deep-sea hunter minding its own business.
