A giant atom model. The Atomium is a huge building shaped like an iron atom with nine metal spheres connected by tubes, standing 102 meters tall in Brussels, Belgium.

Built for a world's fair. It was created in 1958 as the main attraction for the Brussels World's Fair, a huge celebration where countries showed off their best inventions and ideas.

Shiny and futuristic. The building is covered in aluminum and reflects light beautifully, making it sparkle like a real metal atom and showing off Belgium's amazing engineering skills.

Most visited landmark. Today, the Atomium is Brussels' most popular tourist spot where millions of visitors explore its spheres, enjoy art exhibits, and learn about science and design.

Built to last. Engineers André Waterkeyn and architects André and Jean Polak designed it to be a permanent tribute to human progress and scientific discovery.
