Bridging two continents. Georgia sits right where Europe meets Asia, nestled between the Black Sea and mountains that separate it from Russia, Turkey, and Armenia. It is generally considered part of Europe even though it touches Asia.

Ancient and independent. Georgians have lived in this region for thousands of years and are completely different from their neighbors linguistically and culturally. They speak Georgian, a language that doesn't connect to any other language family in the world, making it uniquely theirs.

Capital city boom. Tbilisi, Georgia's capital, is home to more than a third of the country's 3.9 million people. It's the beating heart of Georgia and the largest city in the entire nation.

Mountain-bordered land. Georgia is surrounded by natural borders, with the Caucasus Mountains protecting it to the north and northeast. The Black Sea forms its western edge, making geography a major part of Georgia's identity.
