Highest peak in UK. Ben Nevis stands 1,345 meters (4,413 feet) tall and is the tallest mountain not just in Scotland, but in the whole United Kingdom and British Isles.

Part of the Grampians. The mountain sits at the western edge of the Grampian Mountains in the Scottish Highlands, near a town called Fort William where many climbers start their adventure.

Popular climbing destination. Thousands of people hike to the summit each year, and while the main path is not too difficult, the weather can change very quickly and make the climb challenging.

Snow-capped peaks. Because Ben Nevis is so tall, it often has snow and ice on top even when lower areas are warm, and climbers need proper gear to stay safe in the cold conditions.

Ancient volcanic mountain. Ben Nevis was formed by volcanic activity millions of years ago, and its rocky slopes tell the story of Scotland's dramatic geological past.
