Super common hunter. Black kites are thought to be the most abundant birds of prey in the entire world, with up to 6.7 million individuals living across the globe.

Called fire kites too. These birds got the nickname 'fire kites' because they live and hunt in many warm regions around the world, particularly in Africa, Europe, and Asia.

Medium-sized raptors. Black kites belong to the Accipitridae family, which includes many other hunting birds, and they are smaller than eagles but still powerful hunters.

Changing populations. While black kites are incredibly numerous overall, some populations have experienced big drops or ups in their numbers over time, depending on where they live.
