Twisted threads grip. A bolt has special spiral grooves called threads that twist around it. When you spin the bolt, these threads catch onto matching grooves inside a nut, pulling the two pieces tightly together.

Head makes it work. The bolt has a flat head at the top that gives you a place to grab with a wrench or your hand. The rest of the bolt is smooth until the threaded part that screws into the nut.

Holds everything together. Bolts are used in bridges, buildings, cars, and machines everywhere. They can be tightened as much as you need and unscrewed again without breaking, making them perfect for fixing and rebuilding things.

Come in many sizes. Bolts come in different lengths, thicknesses, and thread patterns depending on what job they need to do. A tiny bolt might hold glasses together, while giant bolts hold together ships and skyscrapers.
