Bromine

Liquid at room temp. Most elements are solid or gas at room temperature, but bromine is one of only two elements on Earth that's naturally a liquid. It evaporates easily into a red-brown vapor.

Named for stench. The word bromine comes from an ancient Greek word meaning 'stench' because it has a sharp, pungent smell that's pretty unpleasant.

Between two neighbors. On the periodic table, bromine sits between chlorine and iodine, and its properties are right in the middle of those two elements too.

Two discoverers. Two different chemists, Carl Jacob Löwig and Antoine Jérôme Balard, discovered bromine independently around the same time in the 1820s.
