Freshwater explorer. Bull sharks can live in rivers and lakes far from the ocean, switching between saltwater and freshwater throughout their lives. This makes them one of the toughest sharks in the world.

Quick to anger. Bull sharks have a reputation for being extra aggressive and ready to bite, which is why they're sometimes called by a fiercer name: the Zambezi shark in Africa.

Found worldwide. These sharks live in warm, shallow waters all around the globe, swimming in bays, estuaries, and the lower parts of rivers where they're close to cities and beaches.

Shrinking numbers. Because people are worried about shark attacks near beaches, many communities have tried to reduce bull shark populations, which has caused their numbers to drop significantly over time.

Listed as vulnerable. The bull shark is officially protected on conservation lists because scientists worry the population won't bounce back if we keep removing so many of them.
