Orange and sweet. Cantaloupes have soft, orange flesh that tastes sweet and smells amazing. The outside can be smooth or have a bumpy net-like pattern depending on what type it is.

Different names worldwide. In North America, people call them cantaloupes, but in Australia and New Zealand they're called rockmelons, and in Southern Africa they're called spanspek. They're the same delicious fruit with different names.

Many different sizes. Cantaloupes can weigh anywhere from about 1 pound to 11 pounds. Some are small snacks for one person, while others are big enough to feed your whole family.

True melon cousins. Cantaloupes are true melons, which means they're related to honeydew melons and watermelons. They all grow on vines and have seeds inside.
