Where oceans meet. Cape Horn marks the place where the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans come together, making it one of the most famous geographic landmarks in the world.

Treacherous waters. The waters around Cape Horn are so rough and unpredictable that sailors have feared them for hundreds of years, with huge waves and fierce winds making it one of the most dangerous places to sail.

Southern boundary. Cape Horn sits on a small island called Hornos Island and forms the northern edge of the Drake Passage, a stretch of ocean between South America and Antarctica.

Tip of Tierra del Fuego. Although not the very southernmost point of South America, Cape Horn is the southernmost headland of the Tierra del Fuego archipelago, a group of islands at the bottom of Chile.
