Space explorer scientist. Carl Sagan worked on famous NASA missions like Voyager that sent robots to explore other planets and the far reaches of space. He helped design experiments and figure out what those missions should study.

Pulitzer Prize winner. Sagan wrote a book called The Dragons of Eden that explained how brains work and won the Pulitzer Prize, which is one of the biggest awards for writers. He also wrote over 600 scientific papers to share his discoveries.

Master of explanation. Sagan became famous not just for discovering things but for making space and science exciting and easy to understand for everyone. He believed that regular people should be able to learn about the universe, not just scientists.

Taught at top universities. He worked as a professor at Harvard and then Cornell, where he ran a whole laboratory dedicated to studying planets. Many of his students went on to become scientists themselves.

Influenced millions. Sagan showed people that science is beautiful and mysterious, and he's remembered as one of the greatest science teachers ever because he made us all curious about our place in the universe.
