Fancy red tips. Cedar waxwings have bright red tips on some of their wing feathers that look like drips of sealing wax, which is where they got their cool name.

Berry eating machine. These birds absolutely love fruit, especially cedar cones, berries, and holly, and they sometimes eat so much fruit they can barely fly.

Travelers north and south. Cedar waxwings live in Canada during breeding season but fly south to the United States, Central America, and even parts of South America when winter comes.

Beautiful smooth colors. These medium-sized birds are painted in soft shades of brown, gray, and yellow, giving them an elegant, polished look.

Balanced diet. While fruit is their favorite food, cedar waxwings also catch and eat insects, especially during breeding season when they need extra protein.
