Giant plant eater. Cetiosaurus was a sauropod, which means it had a super long neck and tail, four sturdy legs, and ate only plants. These dinosaurs were some of the biggest land animals that ever lived.
Ancient British reptile. Cetiosaurus lived in what is now Britain and possibly France around 171 to 165 million years ago during the Middle Jurassic Period. Back then, these lands were much warmer and covered with lush plants for dinosaurs to munch on.
Before the famous ones. Cetiosaurus lived millions of years before famous dinosaurs like Triceratops and T-rex showed up. It was one of the earliest sauropods scientists have discovered.
Studied for centuries. Cetiosaurus was one of the first sauropod dinosaurs ever found and named by scientists. Its fossils helped people understand how these enormous creatures lived and moved.
Long-necked browser. With its extremely long neck, Cetiosaurus could reach high into tall trees to eat plants that other dinosaurs couldn't reach. Its whole body was built for being huge and eating lots of vegetation.
