Daedalus

Built the Labyrinth. Daedalus designed an enormous, confusing maze for King Minos of Crete that was so tricky nobody could escape it. The labyrinth was built to trap the Minotaur, a scary creature that was half human and half bull.

Made wax wings. Daedalus crafted amazing wings from feathers and wax so he and his son Icarus could fly away from Crete. However, Icarus didn't listen to his father's warning about flying too close to the Sun, and the wax melted, causing him to fall.

Super skilled maker. Daedalus was famous throughout ancient Greece as a craftsman and architect who could build almost anything. Kings and queens wanted him to create impossible things for them, like a wooden cow that fooled even the cleverest people.

Father of Icarus. Daedalus is best remembered as the father of Icarus, the boy who flew too high on wax wings. Their story teaches us about listening to warnings and being careful when trying new and dangerous things.

Symbol of wisdom. In ancient stories, Daedalus represents knowledge, skill, and clever thinking. His name became so connected with invention that people still use it today when talking about brilliant creators and inventors.
