What is it?. Dog agility is a timed race where dogs zoom through jumps, tunnels, weaves, and other obstacles while their handler shouts directions from the sidelines. The goal is to finish fast while staying accurate and not knocking things over.

No treats allowed. Dogs compete without food rewards or toys to keep them motivated, which means they have to listen to their handler purely because they love the game and their handler. This makes the training process really important.

Handler and dog teamwork. The handler can never touch the dog or the obstacles during the race, so they have to guide their pup using only voice commands, hand signals, and body movements. It's like a dance where both partners have to be perfectly in sync.

Serious training needed. Dogs need months or even years of practice to learn all the obstacles and follow their handler's signals perfectly while running at full speed. Handlers also have to train hard to give clear directions at exactly the right moment.

Points for perfection. Dogs earn points based on how fast they complete the course AND how accurately they do it, so a super speedy run that knocks over a jump won't win against a slightly slower dog that nails every obstacle.
