Three wise kings. Christians celebrate Epiphany by remembering the Magi, three wise travelers from distant lands who journeyed to visit baby Jesus and brought him precious gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

Jesus gets baptized. Epiphany also honors the day Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River, which Christians believe showed everyone that he was God's son in a special and important way.

Water turns to wine. The holiday also celebrates the wedding at Cana, where Jesus performed his first miracle by turning water into wine, showing his amazing powers to his followers.

Celebrated worldwide. Christians around the world celebrate Epiphany on January 6th, and in many places people dress up as the three wise kings, bake special cakes with hidden treasures inside, and light candles to remember these important events.

The name's meaning. Epiphany comes from a word meaning 'appearance' or 'revelation,' because it's about Jesus's special appearance and power being revealed to the world.
